Cisco Wireless Access Point

With the Cisco Wireless Access Point, you can have the security your small business needs as well as the convenience of wireless access to allow your employees to access your wired network no matter where they are within your office. Even if they are in an area without access to one of your company’s computers perhaps in a conference room or in a private meeting with a client, they can pull out a laptop and access all of the information they need for their task without the inconvenience of relocating, client and all, to another room.

Some systems allow even employees in a remote location to connect to your company’s network. With improved transmission, fewer connections are dropped, as does the frustration level. The Aironet Series even allows access in the out of doors, a boon for construction companies and others whose work takes them outside most of the time.

The same model of the Cisco Wireless Access Point allows employees to bring their own device to work, thanks to its 2.4/5 GHz dual-band integrated radios. With its high density experience, the Cisco system works well, even when many employees are using their own devices, as happens often in medical practices.

In the online magazine Network World, tech writer Eric Geier put one of the Cisco Wireless Access Point devices, the Aironet 3602I AP, to the test for his September 16, 2013 review, comparing it to the Ubiquiti AP. He discovered that the Cisco product fared better in his throughput tests, and has advanced enterprise settings lacking in the Ubiquiti. The Ubiquiti, however, was more user-friendly, with an easier setup process providing non-techies a less frustrating experience while setting it up.

Although the Cisco access point has more bells and whistles than its competitors, the company must increase its products’ accessibility so more non-tech pros can use the equipment with confidence. The company seems to be shifting toward providing more user-friendliness in its products, however, most notably with its commerce product, the Cisco Commerce Workspace.
